Pakistani ambassador to Afghanistan is missing Print E-mail
Tuesday, 12 February 2008

PESHAWAR: The Pakistani ambassador to Afghanistan is feared to have been abducted since he went missing while on his way to Kabul via the Khyber Agency on Monday.

“Ambassador Tariq Azizuddin has gone missing and search for him is on”, said Foreign Office spokesman Mohammad Sadiq. “We can’t say anything beyond that,” he said, when asked about the area where Tariq Azizuddin had gone missing and the nature of the search operation launched by the government. Agency officials said they had not received any request from the ambassador for provision of escort, which is a necessary requirement for senior government officials and foreigners, in some cases, while travelling through the Tribal Areas. daud khattak/sudhir afridi
